About

I came to painting during COVID lockdowns in Melbourne, stuck far from the Idaho landscapes I grew up with. I'd been playing baseball across Europe, Australia, and Canada — that's how I ended up in Melbourne. I'd always drawn, but painting is where I found my voice.

My grandfather owned a gallery and print shop in Jackson Hole back when it was still a Western oasis. I grew up surrounded by that work, but I'm not interested in painting it the same way.

I work with bold colours and high saturation, drawing on everything: the landscapes I grew up with, making stencils as a kid, traditional tattoo flash, animation, and Woody Crumbo's work. The subjects come from everywhere — Western iconography, baseball, nightlife, small-town life. I'm not trying to separate those things or make statements about them. I'm just painting what I know.

I had shows in Melbourne (Brunswick Street Gallery, Honeybones) before moving back to Teton Valley with my partner in 2025. Since then, I've been working on commissions with shows planned for autumn 2026. I'm stretching beyond Western themes now, keeping things saturated and bold.

The more I paint, the more I'm figuring out what I want to say and how to say it.
